Workshops and seminars are an inherent part of RGIT culture. Several seminars have been and continue to be organized for the benefit of students. IEEE RGIT, the biggest Technical Committee, organized a webinar on Blockchain for IOT under the guidance of Dr. Gautam Borkar (B.tech, ME PhD in Computer science engineering, Associate professor in RAIT, Nerul). The webinar was conducted on the 16th of October 2020 from 2:20 pm to 4:00 pm on the Zoom online meeting platform. The event was also streaming live on YouTube. The event was attended by 75 participants from various colleges.

The event commenced with an opening statement by Unnati Seth, Assistant Publicity Secretary followed by some enlightening words by Mr. S.D. Deshmukh (Vice Principal, Branch convenor of IEEE RGIT) and was then handed over to Dr. Gautam M. Borkar. Mr. Gautam Borkar started his discussion by introducing blockchain and how it is used in IOT. He further proceeded to show a PowerPoint presentation on how blockchain for IOT is used in making digital certificates, a solution for medicines, smart digital coins, sensors and controllers in smart homes, fintech, automotive, sharing economy, supply chain and logistics. For better understanding, he presented a graph on the no. of devices connected to IOT.

Blockchain, sometimes referred to as Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT), makes the history of any digital asset unalterable and transparent through the use of decentralization & cryptographic hashing. Blockchain is the record-keeping technology behind the Bitcoin network, a system to safeguard against the risks of Cybercrime. This technology can change the course of IT in various ways. It has the potential to streamline the recordkeeping process, save money, increase the efficiency of supply chains and benefit the field of IT in ways not seen since the internet arrived.

Later a question and answer session was conducted wherein Gautam sir answered all the questions asked by the inquisitive minds. The webinar was concluded with a vote of thanks to our incredible speaker as well as our abiding students, and the national anthem.
